Open a .ton site
Paste the address. It opens in this browser, with nothing to install.
Or change .ton to .ton.website in the address bar yourself.
Two ways to open one
Through this gateway
- Take the address of the site:
foundation.ton, or a link that starts withtonsite://. - Change
.tonto.ton.website, or paste the whole address into the box above. - The site opens at
https://foundation.ton.website. Links inside it keep working, and you can bookmark or share that address.
Through your own TON proxy
Run a TON proxy on your own computer and set it as your browser's HTTP proxy. Addresses ending in .ton then open as written, and no gateway relays your requests. The TON documentation describes the official one; Tonutils-Proxy is a desktop app that does the same.
Questions
What is a tonsite:// address?
The same thing as the name after it: tonsite://foundation.ton is the site foundation.ton. Some apps write TON sites that way. A browser does not know the tonsite:// scheme, so paste the address into the box above.
Why can't my browser open a .ton address by itself?
Names ending in .ton are not part of the internet's domain name system. They are kept in TON DNS, on the TON blockchain, and the sites answer over the TON network's own protocol. Something has to look the name up and speak that protocol for the browser: a gateway like this one, or a proxy on your computer.
Does the gateway see what I open?
Yes. It relays every request to the site and the answer back, as any proxy does, and the page reaches you over HTTPS from the gateway, not from the site end to end. For anything private, use your own TON proxy. A site that asks your wallet to sign something still needs your approval in the wallet.
Why does a site not open?
The gateway only relays. If the site's own server is off, or nobody is sharing its TON Storage files, there is nothing to relay, and the error page says which it was. The directory lists the sites that answered at the last weekly check.
Which addresses does it open?
A name ending in .ton, a subdomain of one, a Telegram username ending in .t.me, and a server's .adnl address. The three gateway addresses are listed below.
The three addresses
- ton.website
- The main address.
alice.tonopens atalice.ton.website, a subdomain likeblog.alice.tonatblog.alice.ton.website, and a Telegram usernamealice.t.meatalice-tg.ton.website. Subdomains open here only (see the FAQ). - ton.run
- A shorter alias for .ton names and Telegram usernames:
alice.ton.run. Subdomains are not served here. - adnl.website
- Opens a server by its ADNL address, with no .ton name at all:
<address>.adnl.website. Useful for a site that has no name yet.
